Perfect for those considering starting their own carpentry business. Door hanging is a profitable, always-needed skill and our doorhanging course will equip you for life.

Course includes:

• Which tools to buy and how to use them, including safe handling and sharpening
• Essential Techniques:
  • Measuring and cutting: Using handsaws and power saws safely and effectively, including which saw for which job.
  • Hammering: Selecting your hammer and proper hammering techniques for various tasks
  • Drilling: Selecting the correct drill type and mastering drilling techniques
  • Screwing: Knowing the best settings and fixings for the job, perfect technique without ripping the screw head
  • Sanding: Sandpaper selection and sanding techniques for smooth finishes
  • Chiselling: Essential joinery skill for woodworking joints and hinges
  • Hand Planing and Electric planing: For smooth, level finishing, essential for joinery
• Basic skills: How to fit skirting board, cutting your angles perfectly every time
• Problem solving: How to correct an ill-fitting door
• Building an internal door lining, including fitting a new lining to an existing opening.
• Hanging an internal door to a new lining, including making adjustments.
• Fitting mortice locks and handles
• Fitting architrave (if time allows)

Overall, this course aims to equip participants with practical skills that they can apply confidently in their own homes and in others’. Many of these carpentry “small works” are excellent earners for those looking for a supplementary or main income. There is never a shortage of carpentry work and AI can’t do it! The course is intensive & hands-on, allowing you to practice various woodworking skills under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

Courses run from 9am – 4.00pm with a break for lunch and two coffee breaks. This may not seem like a long time, but trust us, you’ll be shattered!

Four day courses are run on 4 consecutive days.

The small print: In the event that not enough people book on to a particular date, we may have to rearrange courses. We will let you know as soon as possible if this is the case. You may pay in full at time of booking, or pay a deposit, with full payment being required 7 days before the course date. Deposits are non-refundable but are transferable to different dates. Bookings may be rescheduled up to 7 days before the course date: please contact us ASAP to cancel or reschedule. We require 7 days notice of cancellations.
