Are you ready to take control of your home repairs and improvements? In this starter DIY course, you’ll learn the fundamental knowledge and practical skills necessary to tackle a range of tasks around the house. From selecting the right tools to mastering essential techniques, the aim is to build your confidence to start tackling those basic home maintenance projects.

• Tools Basics: Which Tools to buy & how to use them
• Overview of common fixtures and fittings
• Introduction to basic materials
• Choosing the appropriate materials and fixings for your project
• Carpentry Basics: Sawing, hammering, screwing & sanding
• Putting up shelves secure & straight
• DIY Basics: Repairing damaged walls
• Plumbing Basics: Fixing a leak
• Using silicone & sealants
• Tiling & grouting – prepare surfaces, apply adhesive, cut tiles to size, and grout the spaces between tiles for a professional finish.
• Electrics Basics – change a fuse, socket, light fitting and switch (subject to time) 
• Confidence to handle basic repairs and upgrades safely.

Overall, this course aims to equip participants with practical skills that they can apply in their own homes to tackle common maintenance and improvement tasks effectively and confidently. It’s hands-on, allowing you to practice the skills under the guidance of an experienced instructor. We will send you a questionnaire on booking and where possible, will try and tailor the course to your needs.

Booking details for Basic DIY Course:

Courses run on two consecutive days from 9am – 4.00pm with a break for lunch and two coffee breaks. This may not seem like a long time, but trust us, you’ll be shattered!

In the event that not enough people book on to a particular date, we may have to rearrange courses. We will let you know as soon as possible if this is the case.

On booking, you may choose to pay a deposit, or to pay in full. If you choose the deposit option, your balance must be paid in full at least 7 days before the course starts. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a different date. If you choose to pay in full and your plans change, please contact us to cancel or reschedule. We require 14 days notice of cancellations and bookings made within 14 days of the course date are non-refundable.
